Welcome! I’m Sandy Fleming, tutor, writer, consultant and much, much more.  Above all else, though, I am an educator at heart. I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I can remember, and have been teaching people things almost as long.  In middle school, I had my first exposure to students with special needs as a peer tutor, and that shifted my career goals ever so slightly.  Once I realized that some people have a great deal of trouble learning, I focused a lot of my energy in that direction.

I earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees in various branches of special education, and worked as a special ed teacher for several years before “retiring” to raise my three girls.  It was tough to be “out” of teaching, though, so it wasn’t long before I was doing private tutoring.  My business grew right along with the internet, and I found I could reach students in far-away places like Saudi Arabia, Kenya and Taiwan.  I fell in love with the potential and  possibilities of digital education, and it remains a large part of my business to this day.

One of my main passions in life is helping people with special needs to maximize their learning.  I use my skills as a special education teacher to bring literacy to the developmentally disabled, help school children over learning hurdles, and to give hope and help to people who are struggling to learn what they want or need to learn to move forward with employment or life in general.  I’ve been blessed to work with many folks who were sitting on the sidelines due to lack of academic skills and now have been able to move forward to reach their goals.

Self-employment was ideal for my growing family for many years, and now that the girls are grown and out on their own, I have been focusing on growing my business.  I’ve created this website to reach out to you, sort of a digital handshake, and to let you peek into my life just a smidge. Here at sandyflemingonline.com, you’ll find info about what I’ve been up to lately, the projects and programs I’m really proud of, and links to resources that I’m sure you’ll find invaluable if you are raising children, teaching things to others, or involved in any way in childcare, education, parenting, homeschooling, or assorted nonprofit enterprises focused on education and family.  If you’d like to chat about working together to help someone in your life learn, just let me know!
